Sonic Mantra’s studio album SYNAESTHESIA, is inspired by some of the greatest artists of our time, Steve Vai, Eddie van Halen, Paul Gilbert, Michael Jackson, Prince and David Bowie.
SYNAESTHESIA represents a deeply personal achievement that coalesced over a number of years. Benny recorded and produced the record himself, despite a series of daunting hurdles that failed to deter him.
His relationship with music began at 6 years old when he embarked on his lifelong journey to master the guitar, meticulously studying techniques to throw a saddle on the beast that would soon become an extension of his own body. “It’s an instrument that bites you” says Benny, referring to the profound connection he has nurtured with his guitar. What he unlocked was the ability to express himself freely through music by combining technical precision and immersive storytelling. SYNAESTHESIA features drums performed and recorded by drum legend Mike Mangini.
“Wait ‘til you people hear this music… very different music… I wasn’t sure I would angle into a jam band kind of thing, you know? On the surface? And then, the music is… it’s great! And I’m havin’ a ball!”

Mike’s involvement holds deep significance for Benny, who saw him perform with Steve Vai during his Australian tour of 1997. In what would become a full circle moment, this formative experience for a teenaged Benny would eventually culminate in producing the SYNAESTHESIA record with Mike on drums.
